For Your Information
|
| |
1. All domestic horses require year round hoofcare to maintain soundness and optimal performance.
|
| |
2.The worst possible reason to trim is because its spring or fall.
|
| |
3. As the horse ages the hoof undergoes changes just as the rest of the body does. Don't expect the aged horse to perform as well as it did when it was younger. You may find yourself stranded miles from your trailer with a lame or dead horse.
|
| |
4. When having any kind of hoofcare performed on your horse always give the horse the benefit of the doubt.
|
| |
5. If the horse experiences discomfort or pain in the front hooves because of improper care or neglect then optimal performance will be lost and the horse will compensate with some other part of its anatomy causing a breakdown in that area. The rear hooves and hock are good examples.

| |
6. Soaking hooves overnite does not work. However it will make your Farrier mad. It takes a minimum of 2 days of continious exposure to moisture to have even the slightest effect on a dry hoof. On the flip side, to much continious exposure to moisture has a negetive effect on the hoof. It becomes soft, making the hoof more prone to brusing and flaring.

7. Dog urine has no negitive effects on radial tires.
